Week Ten – Homework Task

Hi everyone,

Your homework for this week is a spelling task. There are two parts.

During the first semester we have been covering different spelling strategies and I’d like to use them to help generate words.

PART ONE

This term, in particular we have been looking at the analogy strategy. This means using parts of words you know how to spell, to help you with other words you aren’t sure of. For example the word car. We can use the whole word to help spell words like cart, cargo, carted, cartography or we can use part of the car like ar to help spell other words like art, army, argument.

    1) To find words that maybe will rhyme with it and see if the rhyme is in it.
    2) I look for words like in Camouflage i found Cam and Flage and that’s how i spell camouflage.
    3) To sound it out and then then put them together and see what i get.
    4) To give each letter a word like Because my one is Betty Eats Cakes And Uses Six Eggs that’s how they help me spell.
