A year on a planet is the length of time it takes for that planet to complete one orbit around the Sun.
Today in pairs we are going to try and work out 2 different tasks.
1) Work out how long it takes all the planets in the solar ystem to complete one orbit around the Sun.
A person’s weight is the force of gravity that is acting on them.
Weight is measured in unit called Newtons (N) Mass is measured in kg.
2) Our second activity- Try and calclate how much you would weigh on each of the planets. If you dont know your weight then just use 55kg to work out how much a person who weighed this on earth would weigh on each of the planets in the solar system.
To calculate your weight, all you have to do is multiply your mass by the strength of gravity.
The strength of gravity on Earth is about 10 N for every kg of mass.
For example, if you have a mass of 30kg, your weight is 30 multiplied by 10, a total of 300 N. The strength of gravity os different for all the planets and moons in our solar system.
